Where does the business data come from?

Every result — name, rating, review count, address, and hours — is pulled live from Google's business listings at the moment you search, so it reflects what's actually on Google right now.

What's the difference between "Top Rated" and "Recommended"?

Top Rated sorts by raw star rating alone. Recommended uses a Bayesian-adjusted score (the same idea IMDb and Amazon use) that weighs a rating against how many reviews back it up — so a 5.0 with three reviews doesn't outrank a 4.7 with three thousand.

Does MyTopRate track or store my location?

No. Your zip code or coordinates are used only to run that one search and are never saved — see the Privacy Policy for the full details.

Can I filter by things like "open now" or find the closest option?

Yes — toggle "Open now only" to hide closed businesses, or sort by "Nearest" to rank results by actual distance instead of rating.
